to help me fish screws out of tight areas in my car? I am looking for something like a snake with a strong magnet at the tip.

Thanks in advance.

Yup they exist at almost every general auto store. Looks like a retractable antenna w/ a magnet on the end.

Thanks dude. You wouldn't happen to have a brand or a name for this tool, would you? I am looking for it on Harbor Freight at this moment.

These tools are called Pickup Tools or Retrieval Tools. They are made in two styles: magnetic and flexible claw.

The flexible claw type is needed to "fish" for non-ferrous objects. It is also advantageous if the surroundings of the desired object are ferrous.

Common brand names are Craftsman (Sears), K-D, Lisle, General, and Ullman Devices. To see photos of typical examples go to http://www.nemicmach.com/nmcsite-III/magnets.html

They usually have them up by the register at AutoZone, with the key chains and stuff. That's where I got mine. $1.99 I think.

Yeah, they do have one, it looks like a long thick peice of wire with a little claw at teh end, there is a button at the other end that opens and closes the claw.

You've read my mind Daniel. I decided that I was going to Sears after work to pick one up. Thanks again.

claw with magnet

There was one near me that was cool on one side it had the claw and the other the magnet. They were both setup so that you could have them bend and things like that. I think that was at a hiome depot. It was only like 4 bucks or something so that may be worth checking out.
