I want to really clean my engine good. What is the best way to do this, because it is quiet dirty.

Get ayour garden hose, some gunk, simple green, a bottle brush, scrubby sponge, some armorall and a few towels then go to work. I like to spray it down with armorall after I have all the dirt washed away, then rinse again and towel dry. It comes out sweet. All the hoses are nice and black too. Have fun!

How would I go about doing this without getting water into my intake, and does it matter if its like 95 weather outside.

Make sure your engine is cool to the touch. Don't worry about how hot it is outside, maybe do it in the shade. If you have the stock intake, just don't spray directly into the scoop. Don't worry if some goes in , there are small drain holes in the system so it will drain out. After you dry the thing off and Armorall the black hoses and plastic, take the car for a drive so the engine heats nice and hot that way your sure everything will completely dry. They show it off to your friends.

Covering

If your gonna go ahead and do this what i like to do is take something like saranwrap garbagfe bags whatever and cover up things I dont want wet and tape then ends. I usually do it to things like Air Intake, electrical boxes, distributer cap things like that. And also if your engine is still gonna be warm when doing this like if you car has not been sitting in a cooldown phaze for a few hours i like to keep the engine running when i spray it with the hose. I do that just so I dont crack the block or anything like that. It cannot hurt to be too carefull when it comes to your engine. After it is covered just spray it with a good engine degreaser let it sit there like 20 minutes come back scrub it with a brush pretty good ( like one you would use to clean the car) and do this a few more times then eventually clean it using a towel or something. Take your time and make it shine. or even if it is really bad you can take it to a deatail shop and get it steam cleaned and that comes out real nice, then eveery now and then do this stuff and it keeps it that way.
