Suggested tire size for 97-99 SE stockers is 215/55/16.

What's your opinion on 225/50/16 fitment? pros/cons? Is it common? tks.

I think it would probably be ok, your speedometer might be off just a little, not really even enough to tell, but ive always heard that the stock size (215/55/16) is the best.

Your all good. I put the 225/50/16 on my '97 and it runs fine.. You just have to make sure they blance it right, or you'll get a slight drift..

Yes you can run 225/50/16 on the SE rims. THe SE rims i believe are 6.5" wide....maybe even 7". THe 225 are a bit wider then the 215; Only 10mm to be exact, hehe. You will have more traction and better control for handling and it will not effect your speedo. THe only prob with wider tires is that they hydroplane easier.

I have 225/50/16 and it rides just fine, but my spedometer is off. Every 40 miles its higher by like 2 miles. when they wear out I will get 225/55-16, I think the ride quality will be better.

215/55/16
sidewall 4.65"
overall diameter 25.31"
rolling circumference 79.52"

225/50/16
SW 4.43"
overal diam 24.85"
rolling circumference 78.09"
- this will lower your gearing, slightly improving acceleration but raise the engine speeds at highway cruising speed
- you'll be going faster than what the speedo shows (around 1-2 mph when under 100 mph)

Hey 190hpKiLLA, you might wanna look at those 225/55/16's before you switch. Last weekend we put em side by side with the 225/50/16's and think the 55's look like truck tires. Way taller than the 50's.

The other ride and me are moving down to the 50's when we can.

He saw my tires (225/55-16) and they don't look like truck tires. They do look a little beefy on the sides but I like that.
