fluids

Normal ATF is fine if you change (drain and refill) your fluid every 30k miles or sooner. I personally got a Redline D4 ATF full flush, and change my ATF every 15k miles. That's a bit overkill though.
The difference between synthetic and normal ATF is that synthetic is supposed to allow for smoother shifts and extended drain intervals. However, I cannot say that my shifts have gotten any smoother with Redline d4 atf. Perhaps a little, but not worth the full flush. If you go synthetic, a drain and refill should be fine.
There are two types of ATF flushes. One is the "magic sucker pump" DBM keeps on talking about. I've yet to see a shop to actually use on of these. The other is the T-tech service that many shops, including Jiffy Lube, use. The T-tech is a more thorough flush system and I would recommend it if you want a full flush.

Good question. Ever get out of your car and receive a static electricity shock when you close the door? Well, my car is worse than that. On occasion, I've had electric arcs form between my key and the door lock or ignition cylinder. One time, an electric arc formed between the gas nozzle and the gas filler hole! Oh man, I almost had a heart attack!
Hence, the "rolling tesla coil."

dexron 2 or 3 ??
According to the manual it first specifies dex3 then dex2e and mercon equivalent so what really is best i see that the synthetic dex 2 by redline is more money then dex 3 d4 atf.
My max only has around 28,000 miles or so (1997) i replaced the atf fluid at around 14,500 with royal purple atf. I like to change fluids every 12 months or so, i figured on swappin to redline since many people on this board recommend it. Is it smart to swap oil brands as well i go from royal purple to redline to mobil1 to redline. te mobil1 filter is it the best? thanks for the help in advance
