cause i just bought some rims form sweetsound2001, and i didn't pay attention to the offset, it is +50mm. he said they fit fine on his 97 gxe, so i'm guessing they'll fit fine on a 98 gxe. they are MOMO corse 16" giarosso. i can't find anything on this rim on the web, but he had tons of pictures of it. so what's the deal? what's with this offset? someone said that it was a little high for nissans, but would go good on hondas. thanks a lot.

it refers to the relationship of the wheel body to the true center of the hub

Zero offset is when there is an equal distance form the mounting flange, the center of the wheel, to each rim of the wheel (the beads). A positive offset is what you would think of as a deep-dish wheel. Most front wheel drive vehicles need a negative offset, which means that the center line of the wheel is inboard of the actual mounting flange, giving it a negative offset. Hope this has helped. If you want more info, check at tirerack.com, or another wheel and tire site, they usually have a good explanation, and go into a bit more detail than I have here. Hope it helps.

thanks for the explanation, better than what tirerack says, imo. Anyways, for the offset, do we just buy washers or something to change the offset? I haven't bought my rims yet, so I dunno how that works, but I'm getting 18x8 and I hear +40mm offset, if I remember correctly.

That's sound ok to me but if it is necessary they do sell spacers.

well crap man...

is that gonna be bad for my 98? i mean, if most people say +40mm, how will +50mm be? i mean, will it affect it performance wise, or anything like that?

In my opinion, you probably won't clear the brakes with that offset and even if you did you'd rub the fenders every turn you made.

I'm the guy who said +50mm is a pretty big offset for a Maxima, anything much more than +40mm is probably going to give you some issues. Stock offset is +38mm if I recall correctly, I wouldn't stray too far from that.
