36K Checkup
#1
I have 41K miles on my Maxima. I bought it at 34K.
No entries in Owners Manual regarding maintenance.
I was quoted $495.00 by a local Nissan Dealer to check
my car out and, without major problems, bring the car
back to warrenty standards. The car runs great now.
Is it worth my time to have a Nissan Dealer service my
car or can it be done more economically elsewhere?
Please advise...

$495 seems like a high price. Perhaps your dealer wants to do the scheduled service and also some "recommended" items as well.

Check your owners manual for the required maintenance for your vehicle. If I remember correctly, the 45k service includes:
1) Change oil and filter
2) Check suspension
3) Check other fluids
4) Brake check
That's pretty much all the factory recommends. However, these services can also be done:
1) Drain and refill coolant
2) Drain and refill transmission fluid
3) Change air filter
That's pretty much it! Every 30k, replace the fuel filter, and every 60k replace the spark plugs. Other than that, change the oil regularly (recommended 5000 miles for dino oil, 7500+ miles for synthetic oil).
