I have a 95 Maxima. Recently I have been having a problem. The ECCS 2 fuse located in the fuse box under the hood keeps blowing on me. Apparently this is the Engine Concentrated Control System. When it blows the entire car shuts down. I replace the fuse and it starts up again. This is so sporatic when it happens. Does any one know of anything like this ever happening. Is it the relay, or is the entire computer bad?

A blown fuse is the consequence of an electrical overload, most often a short circuit. It is unlikely that the Engine Control Module (the computer) is at fault.

I doubt the relay is to blame. There is an easy test you could make. Relays of like color are interchangeable. Swap the suspect relay with another of the same color and see if the symptom persists.

Determine the correct fuse rating for the ECCS circuit. Perhaps someone substituted a lower-rated fuse by mistake.

Short circuits can be difficult and time-consuming to find. Are there any other clues? Has the car had any recent repairs? Has it ever been in a crash?
