Air bag system electrical problem

Hi
I have a 98 Maxima SE with air-bags in the front seats. Unfortunatly the seats were stolen and I can't find new ones except from the dealer at an outrageous price. I bought seats without air bags but the "air bag" light in the dash keeps flashing.
My mechanic told me he could jump the wires to fool the system into believing the air bags are plugged and OK but he need to know the electrical resistance of the air bag control system. The local Nissan dealer could not find this info. Apparently their electrical guy is on vacation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
