The aftermarket pads tend to squeal more. Bought OEM?

Nissan brakes tend to squeal if you don't install the new pads with new shims. I dunno why, but since most Nissan brake pad kits comes with shims, why not install them anyways?

Also I noticed that unlike other cars, the Maximas brakes squeal only when applied as a sign of the pad wearing out. On other cars, the brake wear squealing sound is heard when you are not stepping on the brakes, but rather when you begin to accelerate.

alot of aftermarket pads squeak.

The best you can do is use new shims, make sure all your surfaces are clean. Turn your rotors if they arent perfectly smooth. You can try disc brake quiet. can buy that almost anywhere.
Oh and pads are suppose to squeak when almost worn. thats the wear indicator.

Maybe you should of gotten your rotors shaved. I replaced my pads w/ these ghetto Raybestos I got form Pep boys and it sqeeked for about 400miles.... I figured that it made the noise 'cause I didn't get the surface shaved.

squeal

Yeah, my Max had the pad changed but unfortunately my car was brought to a shop that put in non-factory parts. It squeals in low speeds--such as when I am backing up the driveway. It squeals a lot though when the brakes are wet...oh well, guess I have to live with it for the next 20K or so.

brake quiet makes them shutup.

its not about the new pads it's what holding the pad in that make it squeal.

you can
1) remove the caliper, scrub down the metal clips that hold in the new pads and scrub away the dust on them along with the help of a brake cleaner spray
2) get brake pad LUBE, they sell at pep boys. it'll help lubricate the pads against the caliper to prevent squeeling.. JUST DONT GET THE LUBE inbetween the pad and the rotor.. that might be a BAD thing... i.e. whoa. what brakes..
