Keyless Entry Question

I have a 99 Maxima SE with zero options. When I bought it used, I only received one key with no remotes. I do have the little tab that says security with a light that flashes, but I've never heard this alarm sound even when I followed the manuals instructions. I know that I can buy remotes and have them setup by Nissan. Do all 99 SE's have keyless entry or is it only a few. In which case how can I find out?
Thanks in advance for your help.

My '97 OEM alarm never chirps or sounds the horn. I don't know for sure whether the alarms were changed for 1999 - I don't think so. Buy a key fob off ebay and program it yourself:

On the left, under "maintenance", choose "Programming the keyless remote"

I believe in order to have keyless entry from the factory, you have to have the Security and Convenience Package. In '99, that package included a Sunroof, HomeLink, etc.
If you don't have this package, then your car doesn't have keyless entry from the factory. I believe it can be added on if you buy the keyfobs, but I'm not sure. I would PM or e-mail Daniel B. Martin and ask him. He should know.

no need to get DBM, he told me a long time ago about this. And now, look what happened...I have a keyless remote! yay!
anyway, go to the back of your trunk. See the plastic that runs side to side near the trunk latch? remove those plastic round clips (with a flathead screwdriver, and see the phillips screw on type? removed those with a twist from a screwdriver)
remove that, and you should be able to use your common sense to find access to area below, and to either side of the trunk latch hole.
most likely, you'll see a brown connect type of harness. If this is taped up to it's own wiring, you don't have the keyless remote feature. If it's already connected to something, the you DO have it!
Another tip, if you do have it, and when you program your remote, it doesn't work....check the right side of the trunk behind the thin carpeted molding...you'll see a box on there that's labeled, "keyless" something, with numbers on it. There should be a enlarged type of phone jack that's disconnected. Connect it to the box and things should work!
oh yeah, I hope you have the remote feature, it's really convenient to have
