I get a strange noise from underneath the hood. It only comes at low speed (1st gear) and only when I turn left. It never happens if I'm moving and then turn left, only if I start from a stop and am turning left. Its like a grinding noise. Anyone else have this problem? maybe a vibration of some sort?

p.s. I have an automatic.

 

If its like a crackling sound then its your CV boot, change that soon or you'll be looking to change CV joint and boot.

 

I'll have it checked out. I assume that the boots are much less pricey than the joints?

one more thing, I don't have to start from a stop to hear the noise. I just tested it out and it made the noise when I turned left at about a 10mph turn.

 

Yeah, sounds like a CV boot, better get it checked out soon. My brother just had his cv boot replaced on his Accord and it was 139 bucks for just the boot. Dont know how much it would be for the Maxima. take care
