Engine Cleaning:---> What do i have to cover w/ a plastic bag?

Im gonna clean my engine once it coold down today... i am afraid to kill the engine w/ the water.. so what do i have to cover up witht the plastic bag??

I know i have to cover the intake... but what else???

Your head. Seal with double rubber bands and breathe as fast as you can...

Ummm nothing really. Just don't spray hard into any electrical connections. Otherwise just wash-n-rinse. Might want to add fabric softener to the rinse cycle to make it smell nice and fresh. :-) Towel dry and take it for a spin for the final dry cycle. I would use some Armorall on all the hoses and plastic stuff. Makes it shine up nice.

I did this when i was little.. cuz i was dumb... some lady came up to me and pulled the damn bag off my head.. hahaha nd proceeded in yelling at me... ahh the joys of being 5 yrs old

In my experience, dust and stuff sticks to the armorall. I just clean it all real well adn leave it at that.

I was told you have to cover the Alternator, and the battery dont want Degreaser going on them!

How would you cover the alternator...its like deep down there and surrounded with other stuff...gettin a plastice back over that would take forever ??

Im doin mine in a few days



Do you guys use a nossle or just the end of the hose ?? with nothing on it ??

You don't have to cover anything, just make sure not to spray into any of your intakes (if you have one). Use a multi-purpose automotive-safe degreases such as Simple Green, scrub with gentle brush or toothbrush, and rinse off. Let dry in sun for atleast 15-20 minutes, and you are good to go. Just trying to help.
