today i pulled out all the plugs, checked them to see how they looked after using the nitrous. they look fine. i regapped them to .035, (stock is .043) and that makes it run better. ttyl, sleeper

Yep I run ~0.038"

To really see how it runs on the nitrous you have to make a nitrous run and then shut the motor off, coast to a stop and then check the plugs. Otherwise you really dont get a nitrous reading, just a normal reading.

Can you explain to me how your mechanic has the fuel system operating and hooked up for the nitrous?

fuel

the zex has vacuum lines that are connected to the vortech fuel management unit. my s/c kit has always run rich, this gives the plugs a dark shade and the nitrous puts little silver specs on the bottom area of the plugs. the plugs are not blue and purple which represents to much heat. i am only running a 55 shot anyway, nothing to get excited about. i will make a 1/4 mile pass and check them like you said to make sure.

Silver specs are usually small chips off your pistons, not good, possible detonation. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? How much does the fuel pressure rise with the nitrous? IMHO, with a 55 shot you should see atleast 15-20 psi more fuel pressure at all times when you are running the nitrous. More fuel may not solve this, it may be a caused by too much ignition timing rasing combustion chamber pressures and causing detonation. A few degrees of ignition timing retard would work wonders. Got an EGT gauge?

Perhaps this might help, its a home made knock sensor alarm.

I aint the know all of performance, I just wana be helpfull.

The white ceramic part is usually clean to light tan with some ocasional black specs (carbon) The ground straps are usually discolored to green/blue about 2/3 up to the plug threads.

vacuum lines

zex recommended routing the vacuum lines a bit different. so i did that tonite. this is how they recommended it for better performance, route the intake side of the zex module to the metal line that the fpr is connected to, then route the regulator side of the module to the fpr, and connect a "T" in between that line to connect into the fmu. i will try it soon. it runs better without the zex, just from that vacuum line adjustment. ttyl, sleeper

plugs

they think it may be gas additives. or some detonation maybe. so with this vacuum set up, they say it should be fine. i am getting new plugs to be sure what they look like before and after. any progress with the engine swap? ttyl, sleeper

Its running well, but needs to have a few more breakin miles before I bring her up to full boost. If you can keep a secret, 5psi feels good!!! But I shouldnt do that too often...

I'm chainging the rear main oil seal tomorrow and that should be the last of the big issues, provided that the clutch is not ruined by the leaking oil.
