Hey guys...
I have a 97 Max SE with the stock SE rims...and I have a problem. The center cap (which I think is plastic) appears to be losing most of its paint, so the nasty, yellow undercoating is showing through. Did any of you guys have a similar problem, and how did you fix it? Is it possible for me to buy these center caps anywhere?? Any help would be great!!

you could also take them off for a racing look!
but seriously I don't think the center caps are that expensive I'm sure eventually someone will be selling some on ebay or just go to a dealer and borrow some at night...

i had the exact same problem, what i did was i just stripped off the paint with brake cleaner made sure everything was dry, then i took silver rim spray paint which you can buy at your local auto supply store and give them a real fine coat about 3 ft away from the caps then repaint them until a good coat is on them... be sure to let the caps dry before adding the 2nd and 3rd coats...

Mine did it a while back and were replaced under warranty at courtesy Nissan. When I got mine they were like 36 bucks for all four as the normal price. Beware of taking some because they all donot fit the same, the guy had to get out about 3 different pair in order to fit them correctly. the groves that they fit into is slightly different on certain cars we found out that day.

DON'T PAY $38/EACH FOR CENTERCAPS, WHEN YOU CAN PAY ABOUT $3 FOR ALL FOUR!!
I had the same problem that you guys have. Here's a picture of what my centercaps looked like before I fixed them.
I was going to buy a set of new ones, but I also got a ridiculous price like $38/each. I wasn't about to pay $152 for those plastic circles with NISSAN logos on them. My neighbor who owns a body shop suggested that I paint them. So, I went to my local Autozone and picked up a can of Dupli-Color Wheel Paint. It says the color is Steel Finish. I used a small screwdriver to pry out my centercaps and put a few thin coats of this on them. When they dried, I popped them back in, and VOILA!
