Ok from what i gather, going with higher watt bulbs in your heads may be bad and melt a harness or something, which is no biggy to me cause i like my piaas anyway. But with stock fogs, i keep hearing about using higher wattage bulbs, and am not hearing about neg effects. So, question is how high wattage should i go with, and what brands are cool, not looking for yellow.

cool

I was looking at those. Aren't the sorta whitish with a purple tint? How much? What kind of secondary fogs are those on your car? Thank for the info. Do you know about the wattage issue?

Well, for the people who have gone to 85w on the fogs, there have been some lens cracking problems. Specifically, the plastic lens gets very hot and can crack if something cold, like snow or water splashes on it.

The stockers are 55w H3 bulbs, and if you want to overwattage, try not to go higher than 70w. I'm sure there are many people here who have used 85w with no problems, but I've never heard of lens cracking with 70w bulbs like there were with the 85w bulbs.

plastic?

My fogs are glass, i guess the newer ones are plastic? Think the glass would break? The glass already gets pretty hot, besides, i just moved to atlanta and i don't think they have anything cold down here.

The 4th gens have glass lenses...but I believe that the 5th gens have plastic round lenses.

If the temperatures are not too extreme...then 85W would be okay. Just try to remember to shut the fogs off when travelling at low speeds...like when you're in the city and when you're sitting in traffic...you don't need them on in these situations anyway.

85watt Piaa Platinum Super Whites

I have the 85 watt piaa platinum series H3's. they are almost as good as my headlights. I have the factory fogs with glass lense's. So no worries here about melting or cracking. As for the plasma's, DONT BUY THEM!! they are the nastiest color i have ever seen, Its a pinkinsh/yellowish/purpleish color. Nothiong like the Lexus GS400 or infinities you see on the road. they dont even give off good light at night, its like they arent even on. Go for the super whites if you want double your visability at night. They look really good too, whitish/purpleish color. Good match with the Platinum 9004's.

Would putting some of that clear flexible headlight protector help prevent cracking? Just curious.

Or if you want true functional light, you can get the Hella Yellowstars in 85W. White purplish colors are refracted and reflected too much by moisture. This means, that in the fog or rain, you're actually causing more backglare on yourself. Yellow light does not have this effect in moisture...therefore it is the ideal color for foglamps.
