fuel injection cleaning

During a recent quick oil change, Oil Change specialist
recommended that I purchase a fuel injection cleaning
service. Said it helps improve performance/power. I
declined.
Manual says (page 9-3) "Nissan does not recommend the use
of any fuel additives (i.e. fuel injector cleaner, ... etc"
Was I correct to refuse the fuel injection cleaning
service, or is this something that should be done?
If so, how often?

Did the manual really say that...? Maybe I should read it... I have gotten the fuel injector service from goodyear and have been adding fuel additives almost every other fill up and always added additives everytime i changed my oil... I've done this for almost 2 years... seems okay to me... unless it gradualy degraded my engine and I haven't notived...
