Replacing an Oxygen Sensor is something that may be done by the home mechanic. This topic is covered in the Chilton repair manual (page 4-14) and the Haynes repair manual (page 6-15). Oxygen Sensors are accessed from below the vehicle. You will need a good jack, a pair of sturdy jackstands, and an assortment of ordinary hand tools. There are special sockets made for removing Oxygen Sensors but you can probably "make do" with a combination wrench. Oxygen sensors tend to be really tight; don't be surprised if you have to use a lot of muscle to remove one. When you install an Oxygen Sensor it's a good idea to put a dab of anti-seize lubricant (Nevr-Seez or equivalent) on the threads.

Daniel,

I used to get codes 0201 (Ignition Signal Primary) and 0304 (Knock Sensor).

After washing the car and starting it, I finally received a different one. 0303 (Front Left O2 Sensor). Could this have been causing the problems I had above??

And since I received the 0303 ECU code, does this mean I should replace my O2 Sensor?

Thanks

Read the Sticky ECU Diagnostic Trouble Codes. You will see that Diagnostic Trouble Code 0303 points to a problem with the front-bank Oxygen Sensor or the associated connector and harness. If you have the time and interest you could do this fault isolation test ...

1) Exchange the front Oxygen Sensors.

2) Reset the Engine Control Module.

3) Drive normally and wait for the Check Engine Light to go on again.

4) Do another Diagnostic Trouble Code readout.

5) If the DTC is still 0303 the problem lies with the wiring. If the DTC has changed to 0503 then the rear-bank Oxygen Sensor (formerly in the front bank) is bad.
