Is there a specific cleaner that needs to be used while cleaning the Throttle Body?

Just gettin ready to clean my TB and wasnt sure if there was a certain kind of cleaner to use. Ive heard some people say just use carb cleaner and then Ive heard some say to use a special kind from the dealership. Sorry if this is a repeated question. Take Care

Im getting ready to clean mine too. I have some carb choke cleaner can I use this? The guy at nissan said he didnt have any TB cleaner and didnt know if it mattered what was used. He just said If I use the carb choke cleaner not to spray any electrical connectors. Do you guys think its safe to use the carb choke cleaner on this? I thought I remembered emax saying he used carb cleaner. Sorry for rambling, just lookin for help. Thanks

It sounds weird...

But Turbo magazine said that they've used brake cleaner, at least on their project MR2. I wouldn't recommend trying it though, without finding out exactly what kind they used first.

I use Gumout brand Air Intake & Throttle Body Cleaner. On the front of the can, it specifically states, "Won't remove protective coatings."
