Got 18s!!! What tire pressure to use?
#1
I just got 18x8 Konig Tantrums with Pirelli P7000 SuperSports. The Tantrums were only $165 each at tires.com. Before, when I had stock 15s, I did about 32 or 34 in the fronts and 30 in the rears.
What do y'all suggest for 18" rims? The Discount Tire people (mounting was free there! ) did 35 all around, and the car felt really floaty. I also have FSTB/RSB/H&R Springs. Thanks for the help. I couldn't find much help with the search function.

Floaty???
If you take out air wont that that make it feel more floaty?
Waht aspect ration do you have on your tires?
I ride on 235/45 "45" aspect ratio. They are perfect.. no to stiff but not floaty either...
My buddy rides on 35 series tires and you can chip your teeth driving in it ( its a civic w/19's)
Your tires should be able to hold 45psi I would try 40???
Best of Luck

If the steering feels floaty while going in a straight line this can be from too high of a pressure. The high pressure reduces the area of the tire contact patch, giving less control. When cornering, the higher pressure keeps the tire stiffer, letting it deform less in a turn...giving more control.
Just try going up or down in 2psi increments till it feels right. Usually having the front 2psi higher than the rear yields slightly sharper handling and slightly less understeer. Once you find a setting you like, pay close attention to tire wear to make sure it's even.

Geez people, calm down, this ain't some debate forum, ya know.. Well, besides CAI vs. JWT, etc...
Okay, I lowered it down to 32 fronts and 30 rears. I have 235/40/18 tires and it seems a little better. At one point, before balancing (again) it shook when going over 50mph. I still feel weird when I drive it though, it feels a bit higher off the ground than before, though it probably ain't. Also, turning seems to be a bit harder as well. Perhaps the newness of the Pirellis gives that effect? Hopefully all will be well soon.
I think now if I go around 65 or 70, the front shakes a little bit, whereas before I could do 90 or even higher with no problems. I'll have to get alignment next week or week after that.

Wow, that seems really inflated though man. I'll try it this week. What size rims/tires do you have? What kinda MPG do you get? I've been only getting 20mpg, with about 50% highway driving. And I guess yours is auto too?
