Stoked!

It's an '88 with 130K on it, and looks in pretty good condition. Got it for a reasonable price as well... Not that crazy about the color (white), but the paint is fairly new, along with new tires, brakes and exhaust. Sooooo stoked!!!

Awesome! Still have the maxi, I take it?

That would be a cool car to own, although when it comes time to look at maintenence bills, I'd have to look away and just hand over my debit card

Thanks! Yeah, I'm gonna hold on to her for a little longer. I don't forsee much in maintenance for this car. There is a fairly big aftermarket, and the parts aren't that expensive (as compared to a 944Turbo, which was what I was also looking at, and still might get in the future). But I suppose that's definitly going to get expensive, hehehe

That's a sweet car. Soooooo how good of a deal was it? I heard if you can get them for less then $10k then its a good deal. My uncle owns a modified one in NY. He once ran it against a 300ZX TT to over 150mph before the Z gave up.
I like those Porsche 944 too but cannot afford the Turbo. I might go for a 1985-86 944

cool...

Nice car, I really like the "boxy" cars... I think they look really good, like 3rd gen Maximas.

The older M3's are cool. How quick are they? 2.5L 190 hp? or something like that? They remind me of the original SE-Rs 91-94... similar bodies.

And JUDE, I really don't think 10k is a good deal on a car over 14 years old!!! I saw one of those M3's at a gas station for 5 grand.

That car is awesome. You just need new M3 rims on it. to feel up the fenders. I love that bode style. I hope its a 5spd. Good luck. And dont kill it.

I would guess lack of hookup and NOS would do that.

My car is slow, i run street tires, i have trouble hooking up, and don has way more mods than me, a shift kit high stall tq converter, and many others.

As a general rule if a car has a ok et but a really high mph that means that they have a whole bunch of power but can't seem to get the traction down, this is why you'll see a lot of muscle cars with not so impressive et's, but high mph in the quarter mile.... personally i put more on the mph in the 1/4 rather than the time...

Thanks. I'm definitly looking to put some different rims on it, but prolly have to wait a while cuz I just spent a lot of money buying it! It's got a 2.3L 4cyl that puts out ~193hp and ~170lbs, and the car weighs ~2700lbs. I've seen numbers that they run ~15.1-15.2, but with that power to weight ratio, and rear wheel drive (plus close gearing), it should be a little faster than that.
Didn't want to buy a supercharger, maxima is fast enough already. I wanted to get a car that really handles (on top of that the Bimmer looks faboo). That's why I was looking at a 944. The BMW isn't as fast as the Porsche (turbo), but handles better. Also, the parts are cheaper. I am probably going to get a 944 in the future, cuz they are pretty awesome cars. JUDE, if you are getting a 944, get an 85.5 or newer. They changed the interior from the 924 halfway through 85, and it makes all the difference....

Congrats on the M3. It looks like it is in great condition. They definitely handle really well. My brother had a black '88 M3. He had a borla cat-back, Dinan chip, intake, adjustable cam gears, euro cams and koni shocks. If you don't want a loud exhaust, don't get the borla. It was definitely loud. It was pretty quick though.

If you are gonna get some rims for it, my brother kept his AC Schnitzer 3 piece 17" rims that he is selling. I think they are 17x8 front and 17x9 rear. These things are huge but really light. Let me know if you are interested.

Check it out here: http://www.ac-schnitzer.de/englisch/...eder/e36m3.htm

They are the Racing wheels Type II at bottom of the page. I know that these are for the E36 but I don't think they make them for the E30 M3s anymore.

I'll have to ask him about the price.

the best of the "boxers"

Nice, nice! I think the M3 really made those boxy looking years of BMW 3-Series hot. The regular sedan was too dumpy otherwise.

Very good choice, assuming the previous owner took care of her. That's one thing about BMWs; they do really well in the high mileage range if taken care of.

Of course, the new M3 is SUPER hot, but a hell of a lot more expensive. That's my plan; hang onto the Max for a couple more years than nab a nice used 2001 M3.

Again, congrats!

Thanks! I've been looking for a while, and just came across this one. Pretty clean, sorta low miles, should be a lot of fun!
