Turbo kit for 4th gen
#1
Heres a copy of an email I received today...
Karl
Thank you for your inquiry regarding turbo ing a Cefiro.
We are looking at doing a twin turbo job shortly and maybe turning it into a kit if there is the demand.
I will keep you informed.

Hi, Karl Thomson here.
I have 1994 Nissan Cefiro with a vq25de motor. I am interested in working this car with forced induction inn mind. I have looked at a supercharger kit that stillen motorsports sell but i want to get info on maybe turboing it. The cefiro is in the same shape as the 4th gen maxima (1995 - 99) Could you please give me some suggestions? thanks.
<End>
I emailed this crowd a few weeks ago and got a reply today. I rung them as I was quite excited and found out that they will most definitly do the twin turbo on a max but he couldn't give me any details of what sufficiant demand would be or any prices.
What Im asking is for anyone that would be interested in a turbo kit, email them, show them support. Even if there isn't enough demand AFTER they put a kit out (if they do) then its another mod for the max.
Thanks, Karl

All fourth gen mazes?
So will this be able to be used on all fourth gen maxes? I wonder what sort of gain would be expected. i thought before on the boards it was said that because of our engine setup turbos would not be very effective. Also on yours you had a different engine. Is it compatible with ours? Just want to get any hopes of getting one if it will not be possible out of the way.

I e-mailed Don in Texas about this awhile back.
Here's his reply:
Sure, all you need to do is rebuild the motor to hold the added boost (pistons, rods)...open up the heads, bigger exhaust. then, manufacturer some manifolds (exhaust and intake) to utilize the turbo direction. You may wanna set the motor up a bit further than it is now (to get the second turbo on the rear bank), or configure your manifolds to accommodate both turbos in the front of the vehicle.
Simply, the $4500 for the S/C would be far cheaper than the $10,000 or more you'd spend to make the turbos reliable, and efficient, but yes, it is possible.
Don
Granted, if a large company wanted to do it, it may be cheaper (hopefully) but I'm not holding my breathe.

If you were to SC a turbo basically all you would be doing is increasing the psi of the air. Further compressing it. Our cars can't handle too much psi so... nice idea for a diesel though. I know someone with a staged dual turbo for a Dodge w/ cummins diesel.... Ran 15.2 at altitude... imagine that big @ss truck kickin your cars @ss...

You can see a car that is supercharged and turbocharged there at the same time.
