cupholder problems!
#1
My cupholder in my 97 SE is broken. It is loose in its hole. Everytime I open it, it falls out onto the passenger seat. I take it out and it looks like it is missing 2 out of 3 metal clips that plug into the base of the cupholder assembly. Has anyone else had this problem and have they fixed it?

Best to replace it all together...quoted about 44 dollars from the dealer brand new. Mine broke after removal for cleaning. You could glue it down but run th e risk of getting messy with sealer.

The cupholder assembly is held into the center console by four (IIRC) of those black metal V-clips. You can get those metal clips from any Nissan dealer and it would be a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit. The other thing to do is get a flashlight and a dental mirror and remove the cupholder assembly and look down inside the center console for the clips. If you've taken it in and out frequently (for cleaning or access) the clips can get loose, bent, or destroyed. I've found some of mine under the edge of the carpeting in the center console. Just snap them back into place and then snap the whole thing back into place.

If you can't find the clips, consider using an adhesive such as RTV to fasten the cupholder. Apply a thin bead of adhesive to the underside of the cupholder lip and press it into place. Leave it alone overnight and the job is done.

Yeah, I have already looked for the clips and they are no where to be found. The previous owner spilled coffee on the seat heater switches and someone broke those clips off. Anyway, is there a Nissan part number for thos clips???
