that used to happen to my explorer. the first drive of the day it would stay stuck in first gear. Id have to drive around like that for 5-10 minutes. We called ford and they said that the tranny had to be replaced, but luckely it was under warranty. Hopefully you wont have to replace it, just telling you what happened to my explorer.
