I've been trying to find a set of silver, clear, or mirror finished bulbs that will show amber when activated. This will keep the Maxima safe and legal, while giving the lenses a nice clear look when not activated. I'm aware of the Polarg Visual Ambers, but at $20 per bulb plus shipping times 4 blinkers is kind of a lot to pay. I found several places that sell Philips Silvervision for $24 shipped per pair.

My question is are PY21W compatible with the 1156 bulbs. I know they are both 21 watts, but are they interchangable.

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but I have 21w/5w (I have dual-filament turns) Polarg Hyperwhite bulbs in my turn signals and they don't seem to give my car much trouble, but when they do blow, I will get the higher wattage because I think they aren't bright enough in the daytime. I also think the Polarg Visuals are expensive, I never heard of the Philips version, are they similar to the Polargs and are they just as bluish-white?

I totally agree with you there, they are really hard to see during the day. How high a wattage can the sockets take or are you planning on modifying the sockets, too?

I'm not really sure how much wattage the sockets can take, but I did have a pair of 35watt 1156 Polarg bulbs in the front blinkers and it held up fine, but I also heard that higher-wattage bulbs have a shorter life. I replaced my 1156 sockets with 1157 sockets so I hope my 35watt Polargs (when I get them) will work as good as the 1156's did for me.

here are some links

I found a place that sells them for $45 shipped anywhere in the world for a set of four bulbs. That's enough for the front and rear blinkers. I have amber bulbs in my taillights, but it doesn't look right during the daytime. The silvervisions have a mirror tint finish on them so they just look like the metallic housing, but when activated they emit amber (orange). The bulbs are sold in Europe and fit the Euopean Maxima (QX). The bulbs size is called PY21W. I think the 21W means 21 watts. I sent the salesman an email and he responded that they should fit with or possibly without a slight modification. He said some people file down one of the nubs.

I'm not sure if I want to give it a try or not. I thought I'd ask around first.
