if you had to pick one mod!
which mod have you done that you feel is worth every cent on your max. you can only pick one mod and tell why.
my mod would be hid's. they give you 100x the light i use to have. i drive at night and i have 18" rims so potholes are hard to see. hid's help cause i can see a quarter mile like it was day time.
just trying to keep mind off things so don't flame...

lights definitely, but i goto the track quite often even if i cant do better times everytime i go. since i cant afford a s/c i'd say the y pipe. thats performance wise.
in addition to that, some goooood tires. nothing works without em!

The ECU. We did some tests, and concluded that the G-Force ECU is the best bang for the buck mod. We tested a Max, with an intake, y-pipe, and exhaust. Then one with and intake, and ECU, and one with an intake, y-pipe, and ECU. The ECU really compliments the y-pipe. Without the ECU, the y-pipe shows good gains, but nothing when paired up with an ECU.

Wow what a car...
DAMN 1HOTMAX, THAT IS ONE TIGHT RIDE!!! It looks really slammed, are those 19" or 20"s?
I have to say, you have one of the nicest looking Maximas (inside, outside, & engine bay) I've seen yet. The drop seems to be a little much, but what the hell it looks awesome.
Anyways, I would say springs. Nealoc187 is right, the Maxima's only problem is its body roll and cushy ride. Coilovers, springs, whatever increase cornering TREMENDOUSLY, and I couldn't drive the way I do without them.
Later,
Cyrus

man, i'm glad you posted this! i have a 96 SE with a g-force ecu and have been deciding if i should get a y pipe (we have emissions checks in MD--so i'm not sure if i want to bother with the hassle of taking it off and on). could you share some numbers? did you do any dyno's? i'd be real interested to see the comparison. thanks.

my favorite mod?? well i don't have many to speak of, but the clear tails really made a difference (of course i have a rsb in my garage so i may change my mind when i put that in)
Well, we were at the track with the new ECU, but had problems installing it, so I couldn't get times yet. We plan to do a dyno meet soon, to compare the differences.
I paid $425 used from another DC member.

Well, there was a member on this board a while ago, that used to run his Max with an intake, y-pipe, exhaust, JWT ECU, and a fully upgraded tranny. He was beating GS400s, and Eclipse GS-Ts. No one believed that he could beat those cars, but now that I have seen what the ECU/Y-pipe combo can do, I believe it. A y-pipe is next on my list. I'll get numbers for you guys, as soon as we go to the track and dyno. I do have the track times from the person that I bought it from. He has a 5-speed 97' with no other mods except for the ECU. He ran a 15.6 best E.T. stock. Swapped out the ECU and ran again. His best time for the night was a 15.1.
Tails?

either one. you can buy an spare ecu and get it upgraded or send them yours and have them upgrade that. i bought a spare from gforce and had them upgrade the spare (i still have my stock as a backup)

425 for the spare
150 for the upgrade
i got a "special" deal--it may be more now.
install procedures are on cheston's site--it's fairly straightforward.
