When Dropping Tranny- does exhaust need to come off?

I have a Chilton book but I was looking through Motorvate.ca and there is a discrepency when dropping the tranny. In the Chilton book it makes no mention of removing any exhaust parts. In the Motorvate site, it says to loose the front exhaust. I had a look and it looks as if you do not need to remove any exhaust parts in order to drop the Tranny. The exhaust is far enough to the right of the car that when you drop the cross member the transmission should slide right past the exhaust pipe. Can somebody tell me for sure? Reason is I really hate to take out the exhaust, it was a pain enough to make it go in there in the first place.

No you do not need to take the Y pipe off, just the cross member.

I didn't. But that's me.

You know Eric, if you have to ask a question like that, I hope you have some help. Not a flame but just a friendly hint.
