20% all around is nice...

...Its dark enough. Might run ya 2 bills at the expensive end. I am not a big fan of the mirror tin on the champagnes( I have the same color) but if you like it, then do u.

I have 35% up front so as not to look to dark in the day. 5 O's a real problem in my town.

Man, you people are crazy. 5% all around! Its the only way to go. Dont worry about the cops, just roll down teh windows when you see the piggies. If you want a relativley cheap performance mod, you cant go wrong with a warpspeed performance Cold Air Intake. Thats just my 2 cents. Just remember that you gotta TintDaMax.

Im running 10% and have not yet been pulled over by the 5-0. Just dont be stupid about your tint and try hiding from them by rolling your windows up when you see them, that is when they will pull you over.

We have tint laws here...but no inspections. Unless ofcourse you are a dumbass and dont roll them down if you get pulled over. I saw a guy with 15% tint get guns drawn on him cuz the cops couldnt see inside and he didnt roll down his window. I have yet to get pulled over for it, but Im not stupid about it either. Our law here in CO is 27%...Im running 10%...5% is limo tint.

Go with 20% and do not go with 35% because it's having next to nothing.. I think anything below 20% is "ticketme" tint.
I had 35% and now I got 20% all around! So cool!

Massachusetts

Here is Massachusetts we it is 35% thats legal. Is it even worth it at that point? I mean is it even dark enough to really tint? I like the look especially since my Max is black but not sure if it is worth it. What you guys think?

First I thought in NY it was anything lighter than 35% was legal. Then I walked into another tint/car shop and they said ANYTHING on the front windows is illegal since '91. So i saw a cop gunning people one day and decided to interrupt him. He didnt seem to know what the hell he was talkign about and started to get annoyed when I didnt know what he was talking about (he was all confused with his percentages). I was considering getting mirror tint, i think the percentage they said they had that would be good was 70% though. Theres a car parked around here with really light mirror tints (not the really reflective 20%). It looks 50 - 70%, i should ask him one day. Anybody know for sure what the NY laws are?

MastaShimz,

I personally think the bronze colored tint looks good on the Pebble Beige Maximas. You can see pictures of Andi Baritchi's '97 Pebble Beige Maxima with bronze tint by clicking http://www.boostaholic.com/maxima/. I think Andi had 35%. I have 20% tint on my Deep Evergreen Maxima w/ Tan Interior and I love it. I looks nice and dark from far away, but when you get close you can see in it a little bit which won't give you too much trouble from the Police! I personally think 35% is too light, but if you have tint restrictions in your area, then that might be the route to go. I think 20% bronze would look the best on your car. Good Luck!

i'm not sure what % of tint my car has because my dad had it done the day he got the car. the back window is the darkest tint possible... so i'm guessing 5%? my two back side windows are probably 15% and the two front are 10%. well, all i know is that it looks really nice...

Well, either you have Sterling Mist or Concord Mist. Either way, I say stick with a 20% tint. However, DON'T go with the bronze on that color because I don't think it would look good. Stick with a black tint instead.

Good Luck!

I say go with the darkest tint possible. I live in NYc and i have 15s in the back and 20s up front. It looks tough, so go for it. My next car ill get teh limo tints, thats even tougher, but go with what floats your boat. Im thinking of tinting my winshield, my friend has 20s up front including the winsheild and 15s, in the back and during the day you cant see in inside his car, it looks really good so go for it, i am!!

ALL of you people are nuts! Anything less than 5% isnt even worth it. If people can see you then whats the point of having tint? I prefer to be the mysterious dude who smokes everyone with his Maxima. If they happen to beat me, then I might let them see what I look like.

i'd rather have a car with tinted windows opposed to a car with no tint... clear windows look just plain ugly.

The place where I got my tint did 3%, and even I, TintDaMax, was too afraid to go for that. Thinking about it has made me ashamed of myself. I must go now...

Does anybody know the law regarding this in Illinois. Is it true that I can't tint the driver and passenger windows? Can somebody just tell me what % can I tint on EACH window? Thanks a lot.

hmm, my take...

Some tips from personal experience:

-35% is too light in the day, seems as if it is not even there when it's a sunny day! friend has it on his Camry, very weak, only useful in the night, at still a little see through
-20% had it on my 3rd gen, nice in the day, nice on sunny days, looks like Limo tint at night, perfect tint, except a little tough to see through on 90% left turns at night.. takes some getting used to. Nothing bad though

- Do not go for different % which varies a whole lot! Different shade tint is kind of gay if u ask me. My friend (same kid with the Camry) has 35% sides and 5% rear glass... in the day, the rear doors seem darker then the fronts because less light gets in through the rear glass.... If it's 20% sides and 5% rear, it's pretty good since the 5% is dark and 20% isn't that light either....

I'd go with 20% all around, or 20% sides and 5% rear.....

About inspections.... here in NYC, when I went for an inspection they didn't even care, The guy turned on my headlights, hit the brakes a few times, looked at the tire thread, snapped on the sniffer on my muffler and I was good to go.... the funny thing is, I didn't even pass the emissions, my NOx reading was above the limits by quite a bit! Amazing what an extra 50$ can do Nah, but even if I passed, they didn't give a **** about the tint....
