A Cosmetic Mod for Automagics

For a start, do the US dashes have the sport light just below the speedo?

Well the wee sport light didnt go on mine. It didn't seem to be hooked up to anything. So I cut the wire on the plug that leads to the sport light on the back of the dash and got another and ran it to the power/at/snow switch. I used a multi meter to find the wire that has a voltage when the power light on the switch is on. I just simply jammed the wire from the sport light into the back of the plug at the corrosponding pin. So basically all this does is makes the sport light come on when the power light is on. I find it especially handy when im in A/T mode when you can go to power mode by stabbing the gas quickly.

Let me know what you think.

We don't have that. Hell, we don't even have the PRND2L display on the dash.

I think that he means that the Maxima in NZ has a shift mode switch, much like the Toyota Camry and several other cars have. The comfort or Econ mode usually prevents the car from shifting above about 5500 RPMs and makes the shifts much softer than the sport mode. NZMax guy, we don't have that button here.

So do the I30's not even have the A?T switch by the selector like the 3rd gen's?

power = high shift points
A/T = normal but will go to power when the gas is stabbed quickly
snow = locks out 1st gear and wont rev over 2.5k in 2nd and low shhift points

OK. to clear the confusion. Maximas in New Zealand - autos, have the transmission mode switch like the 3rd gens did. 3 way, power, normal and comfort (but called snow). US maximas obviously don't.

Dude our 4th gen american maxima's tranny is soo great and efficient, that it's throttle linked cable linked to the tranny has excellent sensory and can shift sporty/soft according to the feel and acceleration/floorage of the driver. Downshifting is a COMPLETELY different story. But a "manual" sportronic like mod would be kickass.
