Spring or struts or both?
Spring or struts or both?
Please help!
I am looking to lower my 98 MAX with Enkei Arashi 17s w/ Yokohama AVS db 235/45/zr17
Since Maximas are suppose to be a luxury sedan, and I drive about 1000 miles a week. I don't want to lose the comfort of my ride.
So what can I do to have my cake and eat it. With the car lowered and still enjoy the unbumpy ride.
please advise!!!

H&R Springs are about the same as the stock springs as far as ride quality, and they'll give you a nice 1.5" drop. Tirerack sells them for $214. Then get some Konis or wait for the KYB AGX to come out for shocks.

H&R's are closest to stock ride, but only if you keep the stock 15" wheels. If you go with larger rims, your ride will deteriorate. Lower the car with springs and struts/shocks (front uses struts, rear uses shocks) and your ride will deteriorate considerably.
I have the H&R/Tokico combo and I enjoy the handling. The ride is pretty rough though. I hear the Eibachs are even more harsh. I could not imagine how lousy the ride would be in that case.
There is basically no aftermarket lowering spring/damper combo that will improve your ride, or even keep it the same. IF you are going to lower your car with rims, be prepared for a kidney jarring ride.

H&R
I just lowered my 99 SE-L this past Saturday (9/22). I used H&R springs and they gave it a really nice drop. About 1.5 all around. My car has 35,000 miles on it, the stock struts were tight so naturally I kept them. The ride is firm yet smooth. After the install which I did with my brothers down in South Jersey I drove home 100 miles up the parkway. The car has an amazing feeling at highway speeds, really stuck to the road. The floaty feel is totally gone, you really have excellent road feel with these springs. My sig. pic. is before the drop, I'll be posing pics with the drop soon.
Oh and I'm running 17's too.
