first time at the track a disaster

I went to the track for the first time today expecting to see bad times. I have a 95se 5-speed and ran a 15.915 @ 90.2 mph my first run and 16.011 @ 87.59 my second. My cousin ran it a third time and messed something up. I know it wasnt his fault, but it still sucks. My rpm gauge is stuck on 8 for some reason and my lifters are knocking with the oil light on.

Any ideas on what it could be

Thanx all

It sounds like your cousin definatly{100%} shifted the car into 2nd gear rather then 4th or maybe 1st rather then 3rd. Think about it, how else whould the RPM's get to 8K Rpm's with a fuel cut off system, it's impossible This theory also explains why your engine is knocking, most likely he bent a valve. Theres is a good chance your engine will seze up in the next few miles. I whould do a compression test ASAP and have the car towed to a mechanic, dont drive it at all! The rebuild will be a lot cheaper now then when the engine dies completly. Good luck and sorry for the negative post .

BTW I have oppened up my dash before and if you rotate the needle up to 8K it will just stay there for ever. If you want to fix it remove your dash and physicaly push the needle down. Read the directions on www.maximadriver.com , under indiglo dash. Again, best of luck..

This is real, though i wish it werent. If I had a digital cam id take a pic, but i havent got around to getting one yet. Had to hitch a ride home and my cousin felt guilty is staying with my car until a trailer gets there. Someone else that went with us knew a guy with a trailer that owed him a favor, so all we had to do was pay gas money. Its a good thing to because its an hour and a half to the drag strip from my house. Expecting them here in about thirty min. (12:30 est.)

I gotta agree with emx here, sounds like he did some MAJOR damage. BTW, those times do suck a little, most automagics are running those numbers.

Ran a 16.06 at 85.?? mph. My best before that was 16.3. Proud to have an AUTOMAGIC!

found out what he did, he slung a rod berring...good news is we know someone who is a mecanic and will not charge me a penny for labor, all i have to do is pay for parts...and while im in the guts of the engine dont think its going to be put back together stock

And by the way, i think the times were at least halfway decent for my first time at the track. You hurt my feelings.
i'll do better next time i hope
