Just installed my Stillen Muffler.....
Just installed my Stillen Muffler.....
and it sounds good. It is definitely louder than stock but it is very deep sounding. Some people say that it is too loud but I have heard much louder cars. It is definitely not ricey at all. There is some exhaust drone at 2K-3Krpms during normal driving but I have always experience this with my past Honda Prelude and BMW 323is. I like to hear my exhaust so I think that it is pretty nice sounding. As for performance, it feels like when I put in my cone air filter. It is not a huge gain but it is noticeable, especially after 5Krpms.

That is not a bad price if it is in good shape (I think new they are like in the $400+ range). The GReddy one is more expensive but the design is the same as the Stillen (straight through muffler) but the Stillen muffler is a universal type muffler. Greddy does make them more specific for each car. Cool you got the bulbs with it. If it is not within $150 of retail, it is a good buy,

Thanks for the encouragement speedy. Remember I'm NOT getting the cat-back, just the muffler part and some new blue bulbs. It's kinda leavin' a bad feeling in my stomach like, "what if I DID get ripped off", you know how those feelings go. Well I will just have to wait and see and gain knowledge by yall's replies.

Uhhhh...I hate to tell you this but it really looks used up. I have heard of Greddy mufflers rusting but I don't think this is stainless steel for sure. I would try to back out, dude. If you can't, get it professionally sanded down and have it ceramic coated to prevent the rusting.
Sorry.:

Yea it is. I still belive it's not too deep and is still curable. If the guy is too much of a lazy-@ss to treat it, I will leave negitive feedback and clean it myself.
With the help of my dad we could sand that thing down and coat it pretty good. I think. Well at least you got a nice little exhaust there for a really good price. It's nice and well sized.
If you have ANY more advice/comments, keep em flowin it's all part of my healing proccess.
Live and learn, right?
You're right about it being surface rust. When you do paint it, use high temp ceramic paint or high temp engine paint. I know there are some specifically for headers and the paint is supposed to be able to handle the heat and not flake off.
Good Luck.

Live and learn is Right !
Yesss I just happen to have some high temp. engine clear spray paint left over from some engine work. That coating has stuck to my engine parts so it'll stick to my exhaust ! Score
Thank you sir for putting up with MY exhaust questions when it was YOUR exhaust thread !
