Ok I notice in the mornings when I start my car after about 5 seconds a low whistling noise kicks in. It's one of those noises where no one else will probably hear it but because it's my car and I know the sound of it I notice it. Anyone else notice this on their cars?

I get that once in a while. It seems to be a cold start phenomenon. Because I don't hear it for the rest of the day. Maybe the belts need to 'warm up.'? I don't have a good answer.

 

ur not crazy i know what your talking about, i get it alot but just when i start it in the morning and the car has not been running for a while.

 

i hear it sometimes when starting up, but after a few mins it just goes away

 

yeah i get that 2. i agree with stam. think it's just a cold start phenomenom too. then it warms up and goes away. don't have a real answer either. sorry.

 

well at least I know it's not just me. I dont really hear it in the afternoons either. Ok I'm not going to worry about it then

 

I was driving in the rain when i pulled up to park on an incline then i heard this whistling noise coming from the engine compartment. I thought it was a big puddle that soaked the interior - however - this sound never went away. I eventually took it to the Nissan dealer and they told me that my ALTERNATOR was failing. So with my extended warranty, they replaced the item. So check your alternator just in case that is the culprit. Good Luck
