I have posted about this before but cant find it. I bought MT90 tranny oil and before I put it in, I have a small leak. I want to fix it ,so it doesnt get worst with synthetic oil.

On the manuel transmition (under the car) there is this orange looking sensor with black tube coming out of it with wires inside. It has one screw.
?????
1-What is it?
2-How hard to replace?
3-How to replace?
4-How expensive?(if known)
Thanks you.

1) It is the PNP switch. It signals the Engine Control Module if the transmission is in Reverse or in Neutral.Originally posted by 190hpKiLLA

2) This may be done by the novice home mechanic.
3) This subject is covered in the Haynes repair manual
on page 7A-4. You do have a copy of Haynes, don't you? Any owner who is serious about his car should have one. The only people who don't need a manual are the Queeners.4) Questions of parts cost should be directed to the parts man at your local friendly Nissan dealer.
The leak could come from a bad O-ring or a crack in the plastic. Examine the plastic part carefully. If no crack is seen you might try replacing only the O-ring. This part might be purchased for a small price from a large hardware store or Home Depot.

If the switch is defective then buy a new one from the dealer. I think the switch comes with a new O-ring. Check the box contents before you leave the parts department. If there is no O-ring in the box, you must buy it as a separate item.

2-Is there anything else I should buy that is necesary to change with this Switch?
Five quarts of API GL-4 SAE 80W-90 gear lube, a funnel, and a length of flexible plastic tubing which fits the funnel spout. The funnel and tubing will help you install the new gear lube.2-Is there anything else I should buy that is necesary to change with this Switch?

3- Thers seem to be a long wiring that dont seem to end. What do I do with the wiring?
The harness is 2-3 feet long and ends near the top of the transaxle. You are looking for connector F32. It is a gray plastic connector with four pins.3- Thers seem to be a long wiring that dont seem to end. What do I do with the wiring?

I too have this damned thing leaking! It really blows! I thought I solved it the last time but I didnt. Also, dont break the thing when you take it out like I did. I had to JB weld it back together. You can find assortment of O rings at Pep Boys and the like. I didnt replace mine the last time I fixed it, but I'm going to do it again, cause I gotta drop the tranny in order to replace my clutch and install the Quaife.
Sorry but I have another question.
I bought the pnp switch. it comes with 3 parts. The O ring, the switch and some other little white part with a metal bracker and little ball in it. What is it and where do I put it? Thanks you.

Take out your leaking PNP switch. Examine the parts as they come out. Install the new parts in the same orientation.Originally posted by 190hpKiLLA
