HELP--Opinions needed-would you buy this 95 GLE?

Hi,
First time poster at this site-must say I'm impressed such a large forum exists for the maxima

I'm considering buying a 95 maxima GLE - fully loaded, leather, very clean, tinting, automatic, 1 owner, and 58k miles--all for $9500. I've inspected the car and found a couple minor body blemishes but nothing major. the car has never been in an accident, and has had a battery replaced.

The two "problems" w/ the car is that when opening the hood, the "springs" have worn out and will not hold up the hood. The other is the dome light inside is not working.

So I'm wondering what this groups opinion of the car for that price is..let me know if you need more detail.

I'm curious if there are any known issues w/ this particular year. Also, is it true that the timing belt for this car is actually a chain and does not need to be replaced (I was told this by a Nissan dealer but the person showing me the private party car had thought the owner changed the timing belt)

Thanks for all the help

Pretty good price, low miles
Yes it has a timing chain vs a belt
You can get new struts for the hood
dome light could just be the bulb or a fuse
I'd buy it

seems like a good deal. take it to a mechanic just to be on the safe side before you buy it.

thanks for the replies--I have one other question,

Sorry for my lack of mechanical knowledge but here goes---when i looked in the front wheel wells I noticed something on both the left and right side of the car. There is a "pillar" (shocks?) that comes down to meet the wheel and has a ridged type plastic/rubber cover around it. This appeared to be slightly cracked on each side revealing shiny gold-colored metal. What are those, does the fact that the cover is cracked mean anything or is it normal wear and tear, and is it critical to have the cover material replaced?

Just hear my offer has been accepted...actually another higher offer was made but that person still needs to get approved for financing; apparently the seller wants the money soon...hope to purchase over the next couple of days...

so if all goes well, I may be visiting this site more regularly...thanks very much for the help.
