Who Will Win?: Maxima (Auto) vs. BMW 318Ti(5spd)...

This girl has a 318Ti 5spd. I do not know what year it is, but this should not matter because it is a later model, and all the later models have the 138hp I4. I would have no sweat on this one, but it is a stick and I have no idea how the BMW 4-cylinder work. She only has a little suspension work done (no performance mods), and me the same. Here's what it all come down to: Who will win? Will she overtake me in acceleration? Will I overtake her but then she catch up? Answer both of these questions please, considering she is a good stick-shift driver and I am a good automatic driver (as in I do not "floor it!") .
Thanks,
Cyrus

Hows it goin cyrus.

This guy at my school had one of those. Gay lil' cars IMHO. They definatally arent as fast as their "sportiness" may suggest. But damn 135 or so HP ? I-4 ?? I had no idea they were that weak. And being that she's a girl, she probubly can't shift like a pro.

Is she hott ? If so, make sure you bet b4 the race. When you win, she'll have to hook up w/you and wash your car in a thong.

But seriously, I have full confidence the high-compression VQ V-6 will prevail over an I-4.

Good luck, and keep us posted ! (take pics of it if you can)

You won't have a problem unless your car is insanely slow for some reason. I put 2 lengths by 60 on this kid I know with a 93 318i in my stock 1995 honda civic ex 5 speed, my civic was a low 16 second car stock, so i suspect your maxima will do just fine, i assume you are faster than low 16s.

yeah those things are slow

My brother has a 94 M3 and he raced my cousins 96 3.18TI it was the most mismatched race I've seen. There's a reason why they stopped production of the 1.8 liter after the 3 short years.

My ex wife had one. They are insanely slow, BMW thought they could dip into another buyers market by selling the ti. No one ever respected it as a real BMW to it failed. The motor is the same one out of the BMW 318 in the 80's, a little tweaked. So its a solid running motor you would expect from BMW. But I'm sure a new Focus / protege would be a better match for it

stock civics are quicker than 318's

318 0-60 = 8.5 seconds if youre lucky.

kick her butt and show her that maxima's are capable cars.

you must've been using your timex indiglo huh? I've never heard of a max auto being that far off the mark... but I guess there are some variables out there. I think you should be in the 7's on the 60 and in the 15's on the 1/4

318Tis have a 1.9L single-VANOS I4, not the same engine as the '80s 318is.
