mine does that too. I think thats normal. when pushing each corner down, does it return back to the normal ride height? or does it sag for awhile?

How many miles are on them?

If over 100,ooo I say its time to get new ones. I'd go for tokicos instead of oem because they are a bit stiffer.

Push down on the car from the front center of the hood or bumper and if the car bounces more than 1-2 times they are probably worn. Try this on the rear too, push on the trunk.

i think the hissing is the normal sound of the strut compressing.

You probably have a snake rapped around them.

not possible...if you drop the car with lowering springs, your ride will deteriorate. The Maxima doesn't ride smoothly to begin with, imagine how poorly it will ride with stiffer springs.

It is a tradeoff...stiffer ride for better handling, or vice versa. You make the choice yourself, but don't be fooled when people say that after lowering, "the car rides like stock."

i heard that there are some type of springs that do not make the ride so stiff is that true when lowering your car???
