Spark Plugs DIY?

Has anyone installed their own spark plugs. I am an amateur with basic mechanical knowledge. Should I attempt it or leave it to the professionals?

Yes, you can do this own your own. All you need to do is remove the valve cover (front spark plugs) and then unscrew the coil (one cover each spark plug). Make sure you have plenty of extensions for the spark plug bolt.

One problem with that, you are going to need a Torx screwdriver to get the valve cover off, but they usually come with a tool kit anyways.

No, he'll need a 4mm Allen wrench, not all that hard to come up with.

I find a 3/8" drive 10" extension to be just about perfect for getting at them.

On the VG30E, it's definitely necessary.......and on ANY American motor.

also..

make sure the gap is correct and don't over tighten them.. Basically, read the sticky and the directions... get a torque wrench too, it's handy in many things

do i have to get torque wrech for doing this or can i just tighten them with basic commen sense that not to tighted that much and also not to leave it loose? thanx

You "can" tighten them with basic common sense. My dad never used a torque wrench in his life for anything, always tightened it just about right, you need to have a feel for it. However, it is reccomended, and if you'd like to do the job right and have a clear conscience about it, you should probably invest in a torque wrench, besides the thing is cheap and it is very useful in many, many other tasks.
