Big rims and spare tires?

I got 18s, anyone know if I can still use my stock spare tire? I hope I won't ever have to use it, but in case I do, I'd like to find out if you guys have used it before. Oh yeah, if I get bigger brakes, I probably won't be able to use the spare as well, eh? Argh! heh

Thanks

As long as your 18s have the correct profile tires (245/40R18 I think) the stock fullsize spare should sit just as high as the rest of them. I dont know about the brakes though. It all depends how big you plan to go with those.

Use it for quick runs

Well you can always test it out in your yard or something first too. But if you do get a flat and need to use it I would suggest getting it fixed ASAP then not so many worries. Some places will do it in 10 minutes while you wait.

Do you have a full size spare? I have a donut spare, and it definetly won't work up front with my body kit and bigger 19's all around. I put a stock 15" full size under my amp rack just in case.

Heh, dunno I think it's a small donut size spare. Guess worse comes to worse I get towed. And since I don't travel really far usually from home, I think I'll be okay. Thanks for the info guys!

Nissan road side assistance.

I noticed the little sticker is in the lower passenger side of the windshield. Is this only during warranty time?

I like the idea of throwing one of my crappy stock hubbies in the well. It'll drop that azz another 1/4 inch too!

I'm lost...

What would changing your rims size have anything at all, whatsoever, to do with your ability to use a spare tire??????

Re: I'm lost...

well if u used similar sidewall tires from the stocks and put them on bigger wheels, your ride height would be higher, and the spare may not even reach the ground

hehe sounds like me...I got my donut and 5 15" spares (1 off my 91 that I kept and the 4 orig. tires/rims that came with my car). I am pleased to find out that I can fit my full size spare in my wheel well without the top sticking up to much (maybe an inch or 2). My speaker box sits right on top with no problems.

It might just be worth it to by like a 15" tire and throw in in your trunk. I think you could grab one for like 25 - 30 bucks for emergencies. Cheaper then towing it.

i agree. very good idea. whenever i get new rims, i'm going to just throw one of my factory 15s in the trunk for emergency. and if any of you ever got your car towed, you know it's not cheap at all. i found out the hard way, i was like, "dang...higher than i thought".
