Stock Accord Vs. Stock Maxima the truth... Some may not like this Sorry..

OK, don't get me wrong I love my Maxima, However I have just let out my fathers New Honda Accord Ex V6. On the highway (Northern State, Pkwy. LI) and I must say for a stock suspension it held the ground with a lot better then my Max GLE (well we'd have to compare comparable cars.) The suspension felt very stable at high speeds and was clearly vibration free even on bumps. Except for that the car sucked compared to the Max.. But damn it's got a sweet suspension!

i once rode in a '98 4cyl EX, and I found the car to be very well planted to the ground. But I would still never take it over a max, maybe if I was old, but I'm not.

FSTB, RSB, and lowering will take care of your max's handling woe's.

The accords performance, however, is weaksauce compared to the Maxima. You gotta love that name, M a x i m a.

that car weighs about 500-1000 less lbs.. so the suspension can be stronger because it has less weight to hold.. for the amount of weight our stock suspension handles, it's pretty good.. PLUS, in an accord you HAVE to say.. "i drive a hon DUH"

Negatory... try again. 1999+ V6 4 door Accords weigh 3285 and 2 doors weigh 3259, that's damn near 200 lbs heavier than a 97 GLE weighs.

I know what you mean

I have a 90 accord coupe too and it's great on the turns. It's pure stock other than an intake. I've noticed that the accord sits lower and the engine as well as all other components sit much lower than the Maxima. This would attribute to the better handling characteristics, but also the multi-link beam for the Maxima was a big mistake. My friend's 3rd gen handled better than my 97 at stock. Throwing on the springs, struts, and braces did wonders for the Max.

Honda suspension is 4 wheel independent double wishbone. Our Max is independent up front (not double wishbone) and mini van beam axel in the rear. Thats why you feel such a hugh difference. The 4 wheel double whishbone is SWEET!

I start to question 'a better suspension' setups. The Acura TL boyshave the same basic suspension as the Accord and they agree that the Maxima has better handling, so what gives?

Well, maybe it weighs 3700 lbs if you carry 600 lbs around in the car!

I think what the first post in this thread was talking about is how smooth and composed the Accord's ride is. No suspension mod to the Maxima will make the ride smoother. Handle better, yes. But not soften up the bumps any better.

my next car will, I'm no autocrosser but I'm tired of maxima's handling, I'll give up that power and take handling instead.
