How to change fuel filter?

Anyone has info on how to change fuel filter on 1997 maxima, please post it.

Also i have found lowest price at courtesy nissan with shipping to be $20, maybe anyone there know where I can buy lower price? Is aftermarket fuel filter acceptable or I must use only Nissan OEM fuel filter?

Thanks in advance!

I got one from Pep Boys and dont see any tangible difference in construction or capability. It is a tough fit to squeeze my hand down into the bottom but everything fit together fine. You would do well to swap this out every 30,000 or so.

I gathered from one of the other threads on this subject that there is a tool you can purchase that makes it very easy to remove the clamps so that replacement is easier. It's some sort of plier type tool.

There is a specific type of plier that you can use. It sort of looks like needle noise pliers, but the ends are very flat. The tips of the plier fit in between the rubber hose and the metal nipple. It is still hard to get it off because the nipple is almost an inch long. When I swapped mine out, I found it was a lot easier after I removed my FSTB becuase it gave me some more room to work with.

Amen, brother!

I'd opt for even 2" more! I cannot pull the fuel filter up high enough to even reach the clamp on the inlet hose. I can barely see it, let alone disconnect it.
