Thanks

I got just under 60k on my 98 gxe
but there are plenty of people with 100k+ and running fine. Just do all the maintenance.

My 97 runs pretty good too. No mods, just bone stock. Am wondering how far this ride will go. Anybody know what to expect out of the engine, trans or other components? I've done EVERY scheduled maintence and I run Mobile 1. The timing chain and water pump have not been changed as the dealer says it's not yet necessary(that's making me nervous though).

Well.......it is a LOT of miles. But, it is my work mule and it has served me well since new. The only two major problems happened while it was under warranty. The main computer died and was replaced and the A/C compressor died and was replaced. Other than that it has been pretty flawless. Due to the mileage, it's probably not worth much, so I have been thinking about just driving it out and seeing how far it will go.
95 GXE, with only 93k
When I bought it in 99 it had only 61k on it.....Some older woman owned it and never took it anywhere....it still has the orig Toyo factory rubber on it
had about 80% tread on it when I got it too
only about 40% now...But I dont want to get my Kumho's till spring..

pretty funny that you mention that, this summer i worked at dominos, I killed my 88 maxima, i put on 22,000 in one summer Ah! The car had 175,000 when i sold it last month, Now i have a 95 maxima with 152,000 and i am not going to kill it at dominos. I got fat working there btw.

my other car, not a maxima just wouldn't die on me no matter how much I abused it, so I got into an accident and that's why I have a maxima, otherwise it had like 130k on it, it was 89 mazda 626, good little horse
Like 1/3There said, timing chains do not need to be replaced. As for the water pump, only replace it once it starts leaking. You will know, because you'll smell anti-freeze and see that the leak originates around the water pump. The leak starts slowly, so now worries. To help prevent your water pump from going, change your anti-freeze regularly, too, like at least once every 2 years. Use a 50% mix
Oh, and, by the way, I have 111,000 miles on my 98
Only major issues (if you can call it that) have been a sticking rear brake, and a check engine for emissions. Nissan paid for the emissions issue as well.
