Autodimming mirrors

Is it possible to buy stock-looking, auto-dimming mirrors?
OEM or aftermarket? I'm talking about sideview and rearview mirrors.
I dunno if it ever was an option on maximas or I30s

I got stock looking auto dimming mirrors.I took them from a I30. I installed it and hook up the power. I had to splice it into an existing power wire running from the sunroof/ map light control unit. It looks factory, because it is. Hope that helps you.

thanx, that helps.
I guess you replaced the rearview mirror, not the sideview?

Yep, i only replaced the inside mirror. the outside ones i have are heated so I will keep those on. They come in handy in icy weather.

Wish I had that option. It sounds handy. What package did that come in?

I am not familiar with all the names of the different packages, but i think it comes with whatever package has the heated seats with the air bags in the side. All I do is turn on the rear window defroster and the side mirrors get real warm. It really helps when the ice is to hard to scrape off the mirrors.

i was thinking about doing this too, but since i have 20% tint, it seems pointless to have a dimming rear view mirror. too bad for me cuz that would have been a sweet mod!

Get those wide rearview clip-on mirrors. Broadway makes one which, IMO, eliminates the need for auto-dimming! At night, I've never been bothered by high beams or truck lights, get more bothered by the sideview mirror glare.

Plus, gives you better visibility, I almost never need to turn to the side, coz I can see the the rear side of my car (through the rear pass window) using the clip-on mirror. Less neck strain or I'm just plain lazy!!!!

They do interfere with the pop-down visors though but who cares!!!

Couple questions...
Did the I30 mirror slide into the stock mirror mount or did you stick it on the windshield?

Also, can you provide instructions on the install, expecially WHERE you spliced the mirror wires? I don't want to splice into the wrong one and realize that my mirror only works when I open/close the sunroof OR turn on the map light

Appreciate it...
