Help! A bolt is stuck

I'm in the process of dropping my transmission. I've removed the driver side CV shaft, but the passenger side I'm having difficulty. First off, the bolt thats towards the rear of the car that is the "shift rod support bracket" is inaccessable. Anybody who's done this before probably knows what I'm referring to. The crossmember is in the way. I cant fit a socket in there as there isnt enough clearance and a combination wrench doesnt have the right angles. The only way I see to do it is to drop the crossmember down. I guess I might as well do that since I gotta drop the crossmember anyway, but am I missin somethin?

Drop the crossmember. Don't worry, the motor won't fall on you!

Ah.. if you are making a joke, you should really make that clear. The 4-gens have another motor mount up near the pass side shock tower, but I don't know if that's enough support or not. You know for sure that he won't kill himself by take the x-member off w/o supporting the engine/tranny? If not, you give some crap advice.

What I said is exactly what I mean. He sounds hestitant about removing the crossmember. 3rd, 4th & 5th gens main engine/tranny support rests on the inner fenders. The mounts on the crossmember just restrict motor movement caused by engine torque. I was not making a joke, I was simply reassuring him. I have over ten years of automotive experience as a technition. If my post wasn't clear enough for you, simple ask me to elaborate before posting something insulting!
