I have tons of rattles that I can seem to pinpoint. I think I hear one of them coming from the dash and another coming from the headliner somewhere. I also feel something loose underneath the driver's floor panel when going over little bumps. It would be great to elimate all the annoying rattles.

Check the heat shield under the car, sounds like a heatshield to exhaust noise to me.

I think that has something to do with exhaust manifold leak or crack? Can someone confirm this. D.B.M?

I had a tin can sound cruising at low speeds (10-15mph) and over small bumps. It appeared to be emanating from the hanger bracket at the end of the Y-pipe. When I had my Ypipe put on, they remove this and replaced with a rod welded to the end of the Y pipe (don't know if this is a good thing long term) and the tin can rattle went away. At startup, the exhaust vibrates so any metal piece can bang up against anything close. When the car is cold, try pushing on parts of your exhaust (after the Y pipe flex section).

The cat exterior shield is also susceptible to rust out at one of the four attachments. If one is loose and rusted out, that corner may bang also. Mine rusted until it fell off!!! All of the sudden, while driving, I heard a continuous loud metallic banging! Thought my muffler or suspension had just dropped but it turned out to be rear end of the cat shield.

Heh...I love how the primary concern in this case is the speed of the car (and not the general well-being)...not to mention the irrelevance of an air intake to the whole shebang...

If it's a rattle when you just start accelerating, I'd think it would be a heat shield issue or something to that effect. Get under the car and push, tap, press on stuff (heat shield plates, exhaust pieces, etc) to see if you can make it rattle, or find an area that's not tightly secured. My integra used to rattle on initial takeoff. It was a piece that supported the exhaust piping that was loose and touching the piping a little incorrectly.

CAT heat sheild

Are you driving w/o the CAT heat sheild? I think mines rattling too. I wonder if it's ok to remove.

Are you refering to the bolted heat sheild on the bottom?? If so, you can remove it. Just don't park on tall grass! Better yet just whack it with a hammer. The dent sometimes tightens it up. If your bolts are rusted, remove it!

aluminum shield

If you look under your car there's a heat shield protecting your CAT. It's probably right under your gear shift. Take a look. It is held on by 4 bolts, these bolts rust, leaving you a sheild that makes noise. Mines makes noise after a drive when I slam shut my doors.
