Strut Brace options

OK, I'm sick of holding onto the steering wheel tightly as I go over bumps in my maxi. It's that time...

Time for some bars. I did a search and checked custommaxima's inventory as suggested by many, but noticed that they're out of the 'cheaper' FSTB they offer. First...is the performance from this hollow bar comparable to some of the more expensive ($tillen, and the other FSTB they have on custommax) bars, performance-wise? Think the $35 FSTB will yield satisfying results? (I'm not auto-crossing or jamming corners...just trying to keep the max a little more stable overall).

Also, what prices does Phuong usually offer for the Stillen FSTB? Is there somewhere else I could look at for a satisfactory but low-price FSTB, or should I wait til the end of this month when CustomMaxima is supposed to get some more? Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Plan on getting the Addco RSB as well. Some of the very few mods my maxi will ever see/know...

once again i will have to step in with disagreement on this subject. i've owned both and can testify that there IS a difference in performance. i owned the courtesy piece then bought the stillen fstb. i noticed a mediocre difference with the courtesy, but then got a big smile on my face after my first turn with the stillen. turning is much more rigid with the stillen and you will be able to tell it the instant you turn your steering wheel. the big problem is price of course. it's all about how much you wanna spend. all in all, the stillen is easily the better strut brace IMO. money is the issue... good luck.

I guess my question for satisfaction is, who will notice the difference in strength thats present b/t the courtesy and stillen bars? Just people who agressively take turns at high speeds? Or is there a small difference in "normal" driving still?

When I go over bumps, my maxi feels a bit more free than my old 91 integra (of course, that had a dual-wishbone, and sat a good deal lower). I'm basically looking to cut down on this "free travel" (due mostly to large ground clearance, I'm guessing) on bumps, notsomuch performance handling gains, in the cheapest way possible. If I can bring the car to more control (as far as just going over bumps) with bars, I'd rather do that then get lowering springs/aftermarket shocks involved.

Hope that clarifies my 'wants' a little more.

In case you don't want to wait for CustomMaxima to get their order in, procarparts.com has the same FSTB for ~ $38 + shipping. They also have one (I think its the Street Beat bar) for a few dollars cheaper.

Look on E-bay I got mine for 60 bucks. A bar is a bar. Only fit and finish will differ. The amount of force put on that piece is minimal. Any aluminum brace should produce the same results.

Yup.

The difference you feel with the stillen is mental for the fact that you payed way too much.

Now you two can get together and floss together, with those flossy rims (A little too flossy for a maxi imo, but to each their own)

Thanks for the help guys. The courtesy bar is on its way!

the bar works quite nicely, i dont notice it anymore, but when ou get it start turning early and feel how it holds and take some high speed turns for fun, btw expect a little bumpier ride with the new wheels, upgrading sizes will do that to you
