Cleaning fuel injectors

I have heard of a kit for Altima's that attaches directly to the fuel injectors and pumps straight cleaning solution into them to clean them. Is there such a kit for our cars? Is it worth it if there is? After how many miles should you worry about injectors getting clogged?

Engine fog? where you hook the "cleaner" up to a vacum line and let it run through the engins?

I can't remember the name of the kit, most auto parts stores carry them. I think 3M or Champion make them come to think of it. You have to disconnect the fuel pump, (fuse) open the fuel rail and tie this can of cleaner to it. Then you start the car and it literally runs on this can of cleaner. Usually around 20 min. or so. When the car stalls, your done. Reconnect fuel pump (fuse) and fuel lines and open that baby up on the road. You get some hughe black cloud of **** out of the exaust. I did this once to my Honda. The car ran like a new car. I'm not so sure if our Maxima is prone to clogged injectors, but this system does clean the combustion chamber as well.

One quick note, this system DOES NOT clean out the air intake or Throttle body. It's only for fuel delivery problems.

How much is the kit? I have 60,000 miles on my car. Is it worth it to use the kit now?

I dont think you will need that kind of treatment right now. Is your car hesitating or something? only put stuff like that in when needed, if its bothering you then just throw in a bottle of injector cleaner into your gas tank........

Texaco makes a product called Techron. It's probably the best gas tank fuel system cleaner on the market. You can get it at your local K-Mart stores or any auto parts store. Cost 7 - 10 bucks. The fuel system cleaner I posted about earlier is a kit. The cleaner itself is approx 20 bucks. But you need the kit to connect the can of cleaner to and a fuel pressure regulator and gauge to dial in the correct fuel system operating pressure of your car. The kit may cost up near 80 - 100 bucks.

Actually, techron is made by Chevron. The product is called Chevron Techron Concentrate. Make sure you get the Concentrate, not the Progard stuff.
