You mean driving around with your exhaust coming out where your cat could be and going all over the underside of your car? I'd imagine it wouldn't be too good for it. My friend did that with his Jetta and got acouple of tickets for it .. and yeah it's loud as hell

it will only be for 2-3 days... what if i rigged some kind of temporary baffle to deflect the exhaust down and off of the car?

Expect a power loss and quite a bit of noise.

Maybe wear a gas mask while driving.

Red lights will be particularly unpleasant.

He was joking. Some peole hollow out there cats so that they get more power. Won't pass emissions, but a cop can't give you a ticket for not having one, cause you do.

All cars will smell worse if they have a hollowed out cat. It's as if you don't have one at all. You just have the case with no guts. So yes it does "stink".

Not that I know of. How would that even happen? No back pressure?
Hmmm..... Still shouldn't burn your rings up. Probably just someone trying to scare you into keeping your cat in. I would keep it in too, we put enough crap in the air already. Itn not really worth the 5hp differance. But that's just my 2 cents.

5 hp for a max is worth about $200...if all you have to do is deal with a little more smog and noise I say go for it...but then again, I'm all about loud exhausts...

I'm ashamed! You live in Boulder and aren't concerned about smog??? To each their own I guess, and if you want it loud, that's one way to do it. Hehe

I do live in Boulder, but someone has to keep all these tree-hugging hippies in check

Kirk

Besides...for all that they are doing to protect the environment I should be able to destroy it without canceling out their benefits.
