92 Eclipse GSX 5spd Vs. 95 Auto Max?

One of my 'friends' talks mad trash about beating me really, really bad, I was wondering who you guys/gurls think would win, or at least if I stood a descent chance.

He's got a (2nd gen)92 Eclipse GSX, obviously AWD, with a custom intake, it kinda looks like my JWT POP, and a cheap Auto Zone stainless muffler. He's got 205/55 16's and 120,000 on his odo.

I got a JWT intake, Stillen y-pipe, test pipe(no-cat) and custom 2.25" cat back exhaust on my 95 automagik Maxi w/ 145,000 miles. I would run on stock wheels with 205/60 15's up front.

Whaddya guys/gurls think? God I wish I had a 5spd!!

You'll get waxed. Your only hope is that his car doesn't run well and yours runs awesome and you race him on the highway. Your mods will help you there. Even so, my money is on the Eclipse.

Well....

If he's turned up the boost at all you're toast. If he's sitting stock you'll still lose off the line do to his AWD but have a chance of catching him in the quarter.See my sig for what I run at 5800 ft. A stock DSM runs high 16's but there's a few out here running low 12's just by cranking up the boost. Make sure you know before you bet any money on it Good luck though, let us know!

I don't think he'd be able to catch him within a quarter mile. I think he'd start reeling him back in, but I doubt he'd catch him. Automatic maximas just plain suck in the 1/4 mile, they shift too damn slow without the VB mod. Race him from like 60 to 130 and you have a much better chance than in the 1/4.

Sorry, didn't see the auto part. Ya, you'd probably loose. But race him anyway for fun. Hehe I race anyone who wants to, even if I know I'll get creamed.

You should beat him unless your car is ungodly slow or he is John Force. Eclipse GSs have 140hp.

Need you ask? If you can't beat him then something is VERY wrong with your car and you need to have it fixed!

GS should run about a 18.3....your stock should be around 17.2(these #s are for 5800 feet mind you) and you should win.

A '92 GSX vs your '95 Auto you will lose. My '95 auto ran the 1/4 in a 17.3 stock(with a little compression problem) and the GSX should be around a 16.7 stock....with your mods you might be around a 16.8 but he would win if he were stock...with his mods it wont be very close. I ran a best of 16.6 with my mods(before the VB) and it should have been around a 16.4 or 16.3, but due to compression problems it hasnt. I say race him for fun, but leave the money in your pocket.

He's not turning up boost at all, he barely knows how 2 clean his K&N, yeah, we both ran a 97 %spd Lude on the same nite and I took the Lude at q/mile but after that the Lude walked me like a B*tch. When he raced it, the same results occured, he got walked like a trikk, but he was stock at the time. I'm at 5600' elev, I know I'll take him on a roll. We're gonna race Saturday nite, two local groups are gonna go at it, he also thinks he could beat a S'Ced Si, which is in my team, but, I think that's another thread that belongs on the Si or DSM board, not here

GTR Rider

U should win, if it's a GS, he's N/A so you'll take him even in your stock form, it may be close though. I've raped stock 5spd Gs's, but my cars got a lil bit of Mod-ness, I wish I had a Vortech intake

Unless he's REALLY modded, ie. S/C, NOS, Turbo, etc..., you should win pretty easily.

Thanks for the proof, this is gonna be fun hehe, they both have huge systems so add a couple seconds! The lex doesnt have a good launch technique, but I do!
