I have a 1996 Maxima SE with 50,000 miles, and has been taken care of very well. A friend recently noticed that while I had the air conditioning blasting that water (or a substance like water, it was neither hot nor cold, just regular room temperature water) was slowly dripping on to their foot. The problem may not be because of the ac, but I simply assume it is, infact I am almost 100% positive it's because of the AC. I would just like to know, why this is happening, exactly what is wrong, and most importantly how do I fix it and how much is it going to cost. Thank you.

That is just condensation from the AC. I don't think there is anything you can do about it, since that is supposed to happen. Just hope that it doesn't drip on your ECU, which is on the floor in the middle of the center console.

Yea it's definately normal and expected to have condensation from the AC inside coil but it should have a collector tray and overboard drain line.

It may be leaking at the collector or if you're in a super humid area this may be more than it can drain.

Sounds like the evaporator drain tube may be obstructed. How does the cowl look? Is there all leaves and other junk like that in it? IF so, that stuff gets down into the evaporator box and clogs up the drain tube. If thats the case, (it usually is) the best fix would be to open up the evaporator case and clean all the junk out. Blow out the drain tube while you are at it.
