I'm thinking of painting the part under the nissan in the engine..but I dont know if its safe to unbolt.. it has like 10 bots around it.. I have a picture attached I shaded the part I'm talking about with arrows...yea the diagram sucks.. just let me know if Its ok to remove this part.. I'm scared oil and what not might come spilling in my face

 

that would be the valve cover.. if you want to paint it, drive your car for about 30 minutes, open the hood and feel that.. no paint can withstand that much heat.. you can polish it yourself.. get 400-600-800-1000 grit sandpaper (wetsand) add water and sand away.. will come out shiny

 

what are you talking about?

They do sell "Hot" paint... engine paint that can withstand 900 degrees... like brake caliper paint.

 

go ahead and paint it, come back in 2 weeks and ask my why your valve looks like crap now.

 

I agree.....I wouldn't paint it...if you're gonna paint anything...paint the engine dressing that says Nissan 3000 V6 on it...that looks cool painted

wouldnt high temp engine block paint take the heat??

Paint it if you wish. Make sure you use hi temp paint designed for engine parts. Or if you'd like to take it one step further, do a search on ebay for polished valve covers. They do a swap which means no downtime for your car. There is also a link in the links section of the .org which will point you directly to the company which does the polishing and powder coating of valve covers. Power coating can be done in a few select colors. If I find the link, I'll post it for you.

I love the Nittos..they last long and work great in the rain. they look like 17's because of that nasty wheel gap once I get my sprints on it will look better

well i painted both, the valve cover and the plastic over it, the actual valve cover is silver, and its been there for 2-3 months and no problems, just get high degree engine enamel, no biggie, check the profile for a pic
